Pick U Up, a Lambert / Cuomo pairing?
I had to blank out the fact that this song is being performed by a game show contestant.
I think the issue here is sensory deprivation. Don’t look- just listen. I am intrigued by the voice.
Synthy and upbeat, it has an 80’s sorta vibe going on. This isn’t a bad thing at all this is a great thing. Fun 80’s remember them?
Lambert has a great range the lower end has a nice rasp going on, something I absolutely adore. The Broadway ‘big notes’ could be toned down a bit or saved for when his career takes him to the Great White Way (as seems to be a trend notice that?).
Musicianship is spot on, love it. And believe me when I tell you I wanted to hate this I wanted to slam it, hell I wanted to make fun of it all day. I wanted to put it on my speakers and do that weird mocking dance in my office.
This is a big production number. I can see this being performed live with lots of over the head clapping, air guitaring, hip swaying, party on people type thing.. maybe some sparkly pyro techniques but the simple fact is this song is great.

It’s so ‘Idol-ish’. But then again..could that laugh be a nod to the fact that he’s actually spoofing it?
Hmmm hope so! After all the 80s were pretty narcissistic and irreverent.
