After filling up some free space on my iTouch by deleting songs I never listen to anymore, I came across a measly $5.38 in change. Talking to my mom, I asked if I could purchase a few songs. “Only if you review them.” After some prodding, I was able to get the $9.99 (how’d that happen???) cd “The Second Effect” by Kill Paradise. Having listened only to a few songs in the past, I was hooked by the first song “Oh Lexi”. KP is the hybrid of Nickasaur! and The Summer Set with their techno riffs and catchy beats.
The second song “Fall From a Star” is one track that always finds a way to weasel into my consciousness and whenever going to the “Most Played” section of my iPod playlists, it’s always number one.
A close second is the track “Just Friends?” Part of my philosophy of music contains the law “Any song with a “woah” or “ooh” is instantly addictive.” And it’s true. This song is like a tapeworm, sucking all other songs out of my head and making it the Alpha-Track(how’s THAT for a metaphore?) But it’s incredibly true.
Fourth song in, my ears were filled with the dance club-esque beats of “Punch!” and boy it did pack one. Number one on my “Bedtime Playlist”, I make sure that my eyes only close enough to blink as I mouth the words along.
“Miracle” is once again a tapeworm song, but only because I am totally hooked on Nick Cocozzella’s voice. Wonderfully clear and precise, he never fails to put out what I need to take in.
“All for You(f eat. Breathe Carolina)” seems as if it could fit into a genre of it’s own. Screamo/technocore? Who knows? But in my book, it’s put down as “The best techno-screamo collaboration of all time”.
“R.C.N.K. Remix” is totally my guilty pleasure. For some reason, it reminds me of Owl City, only one hundred times better. No doubt have I been throwing discrete 5-second-dance-parties on the bus when no one’s looking to this song.
“Fine Without You” always urges me to close my eyes and just sit back and forget everything. No matter what, on bad days this song is always there to cheer me up.
“Katie and I” is a beautifully catchy song in which I have on constant repeat. Not only am I planning on learning it on piano, but as soon as my next friend comes over, they’ll be a victim for they’ll have to listen to it-I always do that when I find a song as catchy and addictive as this.
“Radio Arcade” reminds me of when i was young(er) as I would run around with my friends with no intention of being anything besides a kid. Bobbing my head whenever I hear it, there is nothing stopping me from blasting it from my bedroom speakers.
Last but not least, the song “Candyland Wedding” launches me into a mental state of rainbows and unicorns. As if that wasn’t enough, sometimes I can’t get myself out of that world-not that it’s a bad thing.
Wow am I glad I cleared some space up on my iTouch…
