Julie Taymor, musical director of the unwieldly mess known as Spider man: Turn Off The Dark, is out and the production is down for a coupla months while the producers attempt to save the $65M behemoth.
I thought the musical was a disaster area but it was a disaster area with moments of great power and beauty. And a diabolical score. And a horrendous second act.
But I am happy to have seen it because whatever the retooled Soidey is gonna be, rumour has it the director of the piddling “Xanadu” is taking over the helm, it is gonna be nothing much. And while Julie’s Spidey was a disaster, it was a disaster of EPIC proportions.
