I consider myself very much part of the cultural zeitgeist in many ways. Certainly when it comes to music. But there is a place where I am just hopeless and that’s TV. Jersey Shore, Glee and American Idol? I don’t watch em and when I do, I don’t like them.
As a populist, I imagine it is me and not the shows. Maybe it is an age thing which because I am such a huge music fan, doesn’t effect me there.
On Thursday, as AI announced the 13 finalists, 25 Million viewers joined them. Excepting sports, the most Thursday night viewers in four years.
What this means is American Idol shed Simon Cowell and lost nothing.
Impressive. Not to mention baffling.
Sure watching J Lo and Steve Tyler judge singers is one of those special rings of hell, right? Right?
