Eye On Alaska by Helen Bach

I have a secret love for old school R&B, but I cant discuss it here. Surrounded by these gentlemen I cant hold my own. But.. I bet I know something they don’t know…

I found an amazing band that has a soft raspy crooner, a rapper, a soft dance beat…and lyrics from a genius.

Welcome My Friends to Eye Alaska

With in the confines of the most current release Genesis Underground is a giant music buffet! I have come to adore multiple vocals so while Brandon Wronski sings, we have melodies and harmonies and REAL LIVE boy falsetto.. yeah seriously spin “Show Me Daluv” and g’head tell me you don’t want wide lapels and some platforms, cuz I totally do. But the point here is its not kitschy this shit rocks.

“American Landslide”… is one sexy ass song. Again those smokey rasp vocals with a techno twitter. This music is calm and these guys don’t look like they sound. Which makes me adore them all the more.

“Miles Don’t Mean anything” holds a very personal and very powerful place in my heart. The lyrics here are so intense that I cant find words. Superman would sing this to Lois Lane, my God its so beautiful and so sincere the music compliments the lyrics bringing this song to the #1 pull over the car for a sob song of the month.

I’m VERY excited to see them next week. I find it fascinating that they’re opening for Saosin a strange Pac Sun Tour bundle, but I personally am so distracted by the unique sound that I’m more excited to see how this is pulled off live. Trust me on this.. Eye Alaska if placed in the right hands, can push the boundaries and cross the genres appealing to all sorts of musical preferences. I hate the word amazing, but here.. it fits.
