Blow Gabriel Blow: Meet The Stumblebum Brass band

Waiting for the A Train at the 175th Street subway station last night after the Dylan concert the sound of brass penetrated through the earpods on my Ipod and so I turned up my music and found myself next to the Stumblebum Brass Band . A local trio featuring a Sausaphone (a tuba to you) making a sound an elephant would be proud of a megaphone just to make sure you catch the words.

The people around me are impressed and so am I. It is a snazzy sorta alterna jazz blues indie sound, very loud, very exciting. Stops you in your steps and loud enough to get your attention whatever the other distractions of platform life.

They have a CD but it goes for ten bucks so sucks to that. They have a myspace account and here is their youtube url: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRMoaTUCIwo .

If you don’t run into them waiting for the train they play around town and are worth catching.
