Will I Am For Senate

In Rock NYC’s continuing effort to have Will I Am the Libertarian parties nominee as the next President of the USA I hereby present the three Invasion Of EPs. Boom Boom Pow, I Gotta Feeling, and just released Tuesday Meet Me Halfway.

BBP includes the remix of, and one of the great songs of, the year, German DJ Boyz Noize “Let the Beat Rock” featuring Gucci Mane beating out the Fitty-Boyz Noize version but not by much. Nobody is better at bass than Boyz Noize, nobody mixes the bass as obsessively so it takes over the track. Both these mixes remain true to the original, more so than normal in a remix, but he plays the same trick, just making the bass harder and louder.

BUT if you were to say Boyz Noize isn’t doing as much with the song as you might like, well, try David Guetta’s FMIF remix of “I Gotta Feeling” which strips the song down to its rhythm with breaks for the rock intro to the song. Me, I gotta feeling Will. I. Am and Guetta are born to work together (there is some serious collaborating going on between the two on Guetta’s One Love album) and “I Gotta Feeling” feels naked, stripped down its components and left to fend for intself.

Of the three songs “Meet Me Halfway” is my least favorite so it may not be surprising that of the three Invasions Of, it is also my least favorite. Richard Vission Solmatic brings a classic take to the song and DJ Ammo -the English hip hop DJ seems enamored of his drum machine. But are pretty good and both will get you dancing. But Will I Am’s “At The remix” is a disappointment though his “3D” is the best of the five songs.

Still, if it was easy where would be the trick and “Halfway” doesn’t have a Guetta or Boyz Noize to take it into the stratosphere. So maybe Will I Am for Senate first…
