Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks And Screaming Females Added to July 11th, 4 Knots Line Up

There was a time I was a big big fan of Pavement, say somewhere between Crooked Rain Crooked and Wowee Zowee, I caught em at some tiny club in the village, it’s closed now, and was systematically blown away. Twenty years or so later I saw Pavement at Summerstage and wasn’t blown away. Talk about your heart not being in it, Stephen Malkmus seemed dead set on making us absolutely certain all he was doing was selling out for the bread.

The Jicks, on the other hand? I know in theory that they good, but Wig Out At Jagbags was just too weird for my tastes, call me, or Malkmus, or both of us, reactionaries, but that big non hit but people acted as though it was a hit, “Lariat” –well, it sure wasn’t “Rattled By the Rush”.

So why am I so excited to hear that Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks are joining Super Furry Animals, oh and also the greatest guitar rock band in the world today, Screaming Females, at the Village Voice’s 4 Knots gig on Saturday,  July 11, at Pier 48, Hudson River park? To put it simply, that is three great acts in a row, plus? Mikal Cronin,  and for just  the $25 admission ($50 for VIP).
