Banton is the man behind one of the great reggae albums of the post-Marley years, Til Shiloh, and somebody I prefer to every Reggaeton in the world including Daddy Yankee. His deep husky baritone (bass!!) took him from dancehall in hos teens to international stardom.
What was he thinking?
Banton faces 20 years in prison and they have him on film -he is guilty.
But I have the morals of… well, I don’t really have any morals and I would let him off just so he could write more music. Plus, coke? Cmon legalize the sucker, you can’t even buy a sugar donut any more without the fucking goverment sticking their nose in. Leave people to die as they choose.
This isn’t a good day for anyone but the LAPD -who might want to reopen the Elliott Smith case instead of entraping great songwriters.
