– Love And Affection – Joan Armatrading – A 70s masterpiece, the horn adds a flourish on a song that is all dynamic lust and forward motion. To my mind, it is a fit with Bill Withers around the same time. Adult love songs and soul – A
– John Wayne Gacy Jr – Sufjan Stevens – An early piece of wonder expressing the connection that exists between all people – A
– The Last Song – Brian Wilson – This sounds exactly like the way Brian is – A
– Calling Out To You – Tedeschi Trucks Band – Headlining a huge show for Summerstage’s 30th Anniversary, this is a soulful track and their best moment, wish there was more like it – B+
– Very Good Bad Thing – Mother Mother – Yes, another band who should reconsider their band name. A not unpleasant prog folk dance thing – C+
– I Don’t Like It, I love It – Flo Rida – I guess it does its job, I mean, why beat it up for being, how you say, shallow? As always with Flo Rida, a smart enough dance pop mover – B
– 20th Century Boy – Scott Weiland – His lead guitarist just dropped dead… only Weiland – C
– Grief – Earl Sweatshirt – A superb piece of music, the equal to Kendrick, a gorgeous troubled piece of music. The Saturday gig is a must see – A
– Whoa – Earl Sweatshirt – Back in the day with Tyler, not bad but he’s better now – B+
– Easy Rider – Action Bronson – I was watching him at Coachella Saturday, bot to tell ya man, he was better than at Best Buy earlier this year. He is like a rap Pink Eye, “ride the harley into the sunset”? Words to live by – B+
