Ted Cruz And Captain Haddock

“Following his announcement on Monday (March 23) that he will be running for US President in 2016, Ted Cruz (R-TX) spoke with CBS News regarding his musical preferences, revealing that ever since 9/11, he has listened to country music.

When asked by CBS This Morning’s co-host Gayle King what kind of music he listens to, Cruz said: “You know, music is interesting. I grew up listening to classic rock, and I’ll tell you sort of an odd story – my music taste changed on 9/11.”

“I actually intellectually find this very curious, but on 9/11, I didn’t like how rock music responded,” he continued, “and country music, collectively, the way they responded, it resonated with me.”

While prior to 9/11, he did not listen to the genre, Cruz shared that he had an emotional reaction to country music following the attacks, and that he has listened to it since 2001.”

Can we really go from Barack Obama’s wide ranging taste in popular music to Ted Cruz’s proto-extremist country music views. I mean, I love country music as well but not because of 9-11 -that is asinine. There were only two real musical responses to 9-11, one was Bruce Springsteen’s The Rising (the other was a classical composition) so what, precisely, is he talking about.

My politics is entirely personal, I am not a democrat nor a republican, I would never pledge allegiance to any political party but even so Presidential hopeful is a pretty rough customer. This is taken off Wikipedia:

1 – Pro-life, with an exception only when pregnancy endangers the mother’s life (the one place maybe we can meet somewhere on)

2 – He opposes same-sex marriage

3 – Supports Gun Rights

4 – Opposes net-neutrality

5 – Opposes the Marketplace Fairness Act

6 – An original co-sponsor of the Keystone XL Pipeline Act

7 – Opposes the legalization of marijuana

8 –  “Republicans are and should be the party of the 47 percent… growth and opportunity ought to be tattooed on every Republican’s hand” -I think it should be love and hate…

9 – A strong critic of Obamacare

10 – Foreign Policy: ” “somewhere in between Rand Paul’s non-interventionism and John McCain’s active interventionism”

And clueless about music.

But I wouldn’t worry, a guy who looks like the villain in a Tintin book ain’t going anywhere…
