Let’s see if I got this straight. The darlings of the indie world, a band raved about by no less a figure than David Bowie, with a # 1 album on both sides of the Atlantic, and Grammy and Brit nominations are ciphers.
Further, a Pitchfork and Stone, and Spin, big star rocker shocker, future of indie (haha) who are really, really mainstream, are not known at all by the vast majority of music lovers.
This is a truly miasmic moment in rock history: the disconnect from all the various strands of music leaves all parties in total opposition. No, worse, unaware of ech other. The center has given away entirely and music is all moving to the edge.
For a wide taste rock fan such as yours truly, it is a good thing. But in the wider world it is some form of civil war among music fans.
Again, Arcade Fire are a huge rock band and NOBODY KNEW WHO THEY WERE.
