It was with great sorrow that rock nyc learnt of Misty Huerta’s passing on Tuesday, November 18th, 2014, at the age of 40. The love of our writer, not to mention artist and Rockwood drummer, Edward Huerta’s life, she had been ill for six months and finally succumbed.

Edward is a real music guy, he is one of us, he is family and Misty was his support and his rock, a true love affair, something beyond the dreams and like the anchor of true love with all its hope and all its messiness and all its difficulty. Misty was the stuff of a writers imagination, a mythic dark haired lovely woman. I was speaking to Edward earlier and I felt like she was still an enigma, still had depths he hadn’t reached and that makes it, if possible, even sadder. A perfect image, a perfect love. The joy of life in the enjoining and collapsing back and forth

One of the nicest guys I know, Edward is surrounded by friends and family though how that helps I am not sure I know, Dylan once said there is no sense in trying to deal with the dying and that is a hard truth. It just goes through you, absence is like a negative, it is just something that is always missing.

Helen Bach, the rock nyc family and I send our deepest condolences to our great good friend.

I was the shadow of the waxwing slain
By the false azure in the windowpane
I was the smudge of ashen fluff–and I
Lived on, flew on, in the reflected sky

Misty lives on, flies on.
