I swear to God this past week was brutal.
More fighting and flailing then I care to chronicle. Snow that wont stop crashing down parts of my house and the worse MY GYM roof.
New England for all its splendor is a bitter bitch in the winter, we suck it up and ride it out None the worse for wear once the daffodils pop but til then… things just suck.
Which leads to the glimmer of sunshine just over the horizon.
Tomorrow night we are off to see Rocky Loves Emily, a Tooth and Nails Records band with a great upbeat sound and from what I can tell a lust for life.
Listed on MTV as ‘Buzzworthy’, the band slides in to Hamden Connecticut tomorrow for a set at the ever so funky “The Space”. One day I’m going to have to write that place up. A basement in an industrial park is the absolute best location for a (literally) underground scene.
Rocky Loves Emily bring back that pop alt sound with upbeat attitude and singable lyrics.
Think All Time Low meets The Monkees…wait, that may not work.
Think of music that isn’t about getting screwed, trashed or revenge- yeah. Sometime there is nothing better to break the dark of winter than a bit of catchy hook.
We’ll see what makes them happy tomorrow when we interview the band.
