Sleigh Bells has just released a video for ‘Rill Rill’, directed by Jon Watts, and I did not know they hadn’t a video yet, since the song is already several months old
The video starts with a monotonous ride in the dusty desert which turns bad when dangerous Alexis get rids of her partner Derek.
Like in the song that I never really understood, there are a lot of unexplained symbols, a deserted high school classroom, some mysterious lockers, a bleeding pink phone, a strawberry milkshake, a batman-looking car, some white roses and a Swiss knife, and does she has some regret at the end,.. or not?
Alexis Krauss was a school teacher and her cheerleader character during her live shows must have something to do with the classroom setting.
The colors of the video are Californian warm Sunset, and Alexis, with her black hair and her bullet belt crossing her chest has never looked more dangerous and sexy,
The song has always worked its magic for me, with its cyclic sonic universe that rapidly makes a nest in the earlobe…. Now it has some weird images to go with it.
