Last Limey band we touted was Ramona and though it might take you awhile to catch up, you will eventually. And when Karen Anne recommends a band, we tend to listen.
Karen played a gig with the Controls last year and had only praise.
And after hearing the only thing we can find, a demo, we tend to agree. So here is our second highly recommended rock band: UK’ss The Controls.
Headed by Jack Jones, the child actor from “Nowhere Boy” and now all of,er, 17 years old (no seriously) (I mean young enough to date Mary Magpie!), they are an obtuse take on power pop rock. New Wavey, almost by definition, they have a cool je ne sais fucking quoi about the one song I have heard “Hey, Jackie”.
Jones has a Lou Reedy voice and the band morph into good old fashioned rock and roll at a heartbeat.
Signed to Columbia and still getting a reputation, apparently they changed their name a coupla weeks ago, but they won’t say what to.
I love em. they’re sexy and smart.
