New Music Week Of January 24th: I've Heard Stranger Things -by Iman Lababedi

Power (Paper Diamond remix) – Kanye West – This is the sound of dance being sidetracked by bpms and wrestling each other to the floor,

I Know You’re Hip – Leale Neale – Know who she reminds me of? Neither do I but there her voice has a certain bluesy ache to it…

The Magic – Joan As Police Woman – This is even bluesier and it ain’t bad, the chorus about as smart as you can get.

Tithe – The Get Up Kids – Remember when they were the next big thing? This is a touch too arty for emo.

Theme de Jeremie – Sonic Youth – I wonder what the movie is like because this song of the soundtrack is way dodgy shards of sound crackling and going nowhere with out the visuals.

Shakin’ All Over – Wanda Jackson – I know, I know, 78 year old, daughter of rock and roll, can still do it. Perhaps. But Jack White is the kiss of death and this oldie is a drag.

Understand At All -Cloud Nothings – Not their greatest moments. Vocals sound as if they were speeded up. But it still has a cracker hook.

I Wanna Be Your Lover – Corinne Bailey Rae – Pleasant enough redundancy.

Written In The Stars – Tinie Tempah – A Complete dog -this is grime?? This is Tinie???

Hailie Selassie – Bright Eyes – Beginning to hear it, plus “I’ve seen stranger things” might actually work into a hook.

Windows Are Rolled Down – Amos Lee – The acoustic guitar is annoying and it won’t shut up but the song hoks in eventually

Party Rock nthem – LMFAO – You think they are never gonna grow up, perhaps, but these childish things are pushing into the party through rhymic hook manipulation. Will I Am would love it. TRACK OF THE WEEK.
