I have said some cruddy things about Craig Owens. I have a bit of a love hate thing going with him. I have met him twice.
First time, not so good.
Second time back stage at The Met with his band D.R.U.G.S, I sorta saw the kinder gentler side of him.
But what really impresses me is his latest gimmick.
Craig is the master of social network, but this.. this is outstanding.
Alot of musicians will friend you on facebook and never interact. You can voyeur their world but they’re not going to chit chat with you.
Fair enough I suppose.
Craig Owens has put together a contest for those fans who pre ordered the new album.
Send him a screenshot of the receipt and he will pick 5 people every day this week and personally phone you for a chat.
I cant imagine the joy this will bring those winners.
To have your idol or a band you love actually call you actually one on one speak to you.
This was a publicity idea with amazing power.
I think I have to like him, even if he didn’t come up with it its brilliant and more bands should do it.
Let your fans be your friend in controlled circumstance and you become more real.
