I knew when I arrived in Chicago, I would love that city. It was awesome. Wrigley Field, Navy Peir, Sears Tower…the list goes on and on. The only thing I didn’t realize that one of my new favorite bands are from Chicago as well.
rock nyc readers, please welcome Bad City. The Chicago-based band debut is out on Atlantic Records. My friend Paul (an Atlantic Record employee) introduced me to this band – and I thank him for it.
For a person who loves the 80s/early 90s Hair/Glam bands, this band definitely brings back the memories of the feel good party rock. Their songs are anthem-arena ready. Heavy guitars with the loud background vocals, and great sounding lead singer. Even their ballad “Fire In The Pouring Rain” is something that just hits a nerve.
My favorite song on the album right now is “Call Paul Stanley” – paying homage to the legendary KISS lead singer. Also, love “Wild Life” and “Heatwave”.
Welcome To The Wasteland is the type of album that you can listen to songs 1 through 10 and not skip one. It’s just too bad that there are only 10 songs from these great guys. Album only clocks in at 42 minutes. Can’t wait for them to release more material.
Check them out at www.atlanticrecords.com/badcity or on Facebook. Also, look for their official videos for “Wild Life” and “Take Me For A Ride” on youtube.
Long live this type of music. This is a fresh new taste of a great genre.
