I intentionally waited awhile before reviewing Underoaths video “In Division”.
I had to take some time after our interview with James Smith.
When you walk into someones home or tour bus, which is basically their road home, the demeanor will be much different then say if you’re at a public meet and greet.
You’re in public you got your game face on cuz you want your fan kids to think you’re ‘chill’ and ‘cool’ and ‘amazing’ and ‘awesome’, that pays the rent.
I respect that.
You have invited rocknyc into your home, that’s cool. So, I took some time to prevent my impressions of that event from clouding my judgement of the band as a whole.
How I behave in my home is not something I want scrutinized or put on display.
Mr Smith discreetly took us to the rear of the bus pass the sleeping quarters and was brilliantly articulate and forthcoming. I am grateful for his time and words.
He is a great musician and public voice.

The video for “In Division” is a soppy scream of water and hair and if I don’t try to read in to it, is mildly entertaining in a simplistic way.
I do see it more as a potpourri of other videos but the editing is superb and the song its self if gorgeous. Its very much worthy of being turned up loud and its OK if you don’t feel like watching it, the song itself works as a song,
Underoath are just that good.
