Justin Bieber, Political Opinion Maker In Tiger Beat -by Alyson Camus

There is a facebook group for about everything, and there is one about the future Ground Zero Mosque, or rather about encouraging the boycott of the companies supporting the building of the Mosque in the proximity of the World Trade Center site.

Salon.com is reporting that Andy Sullivan, the founder of the 9/11 Hard Hat Pledge, the construction worker who has been really present in the center of this controversial subject, and who has appeared numerous times on TV to encourage workers not to work at the mosque site, is now attacking Justin Bieber.

The young teen idol has apparently made a comment in support of the Mosque construction during an interview for Tiger Beat magazine.

Sullivan is asking for the boycott of Bieber, and he had this to say about his kids:
‘I informed them, Hey guys, guess what? Justin Bieber spoke out for the ground zero mosque’ […] ‘My little girl took down his poster and said she didn’t want to have nothing to do with him anymore. These are my kids. They’re living this thing.’

The whole thing is completely ridiculous and sad, I hate indoctrination of children for any reasons, and honestly, who cares about the opinion of a 16-year-old on such a subject?

But there is much more to the story. I have visited the Tiger Beat magazine site, and it is all pink and blue, decorated with glowing stars like a Barbie box, but a quick search of the site with google did not return any mosque mention…

The whole thing was launched by the website CelebJihad.com, a site I had never visited but that I would not recommend if you want real news, as they define themselves as ‘the Only Celebrity Gossip Site Run by Islamic Extremists’… which a penchant for soft porn I would add. On this bizarro website, it was reported:

‘Justin Bieber has weighed on the controversy surrounding the so-called ‘Ground Zero’ Mosque. In an interview with Tiger Beat, the pop sensation stressed that freedom of religion is what makes America great, and went on to say that those who oppose the Mosque are motivated by bigotry.

‘Muslims should be allowed to build a mosque anywhere they want,’ the singer said. ‘Coming from Canada, I’m not used to this level of intolerance, eh.’

Bieber went on to say that Muslims are ‘super cool’, Christians are ‘lame-o-rama’, and that the mosque will help ‘start a dialogue’ with all religions about which Justin Bieber song is the most awesome.
‘I was like seven when September 11th went down, and frankly I’m surprised people are still going on about it. Move on, already!
Added the singer, ‘Everyone needs to just chillax and dance!’

Come on! Of course it is completely made up, but the facebook group took it seriously, as well as several anti-mosque activists, which launch a… Jihad against the teen star…

The internet can be a stupid and dangerous place, especially when these kinds of exacerbated feelings are involved.
I haven’t read anything from the Bieber’s camp so far…
