Of all the stories that give and give and give, the Spiderman On Broadway never stops giving. So as we post, Spiderman is back on Broadway and I will be able to sneer at em till the end of days!
Now it seems that the game is still afoot I feel a lot less kind about it all. I mean, in the end, that’s people’s money they are playing Russian roulette with people’s lives that are being endangered. For why? For Spiderman??? If Taymore wants to be artistically provocative, couldn’t she have used a better muse? At least The Lion King had that whole circle of life shit going for it, what does Spidey have? Being a human flying machine is a blast and cirque de soleil with a story line is a conceptual hoopla, but it isn’t very, well, wrought with meaning: actually, it is kinda fraught with whateverness.
With any luck I’ll catch it at least these Sunday, and then again, a coupla months into its run, but if the music is anything as bad as the music I’ve heard so far, it won’t survive because it will sound like crap.
