Rapper G Dep Confesses To Murder -by Alyson Camus

Rapper Trevell Michael Coleman, aka G. Dep or Ghetto Dependent, who was signed by P. Diddy to the Bad Boy label in1999, has just confessed to the murder of John Henkel, which occurred… 17 years ago! He was only 18 when he shot a man three times in the chest outside an East Harlem housing project, just before running away and throwing the weapon into the East River.
Since 2003, Coleman was arrested more than 25 times for drugs, burglary and other things, and in 2009, he discussed being dropped from Diddy’s record label

A police source said to the New York post that G. Dep confessed since he wanted to try ‘to get right with God’, despite his mom and girlfriend saying him ’to leave it in the past’.

However, Coleman was not aware that the victim had died, as he declared:
‘I was surprised – for some reason, I really didn’t think that he died. When they told me, I was like, Oh, I’m not going home after this.’

Indeed he did not go home and was charged with murder.

Things like this rarely happen, but guilt of this dimension is a difficult thing to live with, when guilt really exists.

Coleman also stated:
‘I started to wonder if all the bad things that happened to me in my life were karma for what I did… you start to think ‘My happiness is because of someone else’s sadness.’ I thought that if I turned myself in, it might give me closure’

Closure, I hope, but this idea of karma is such a cheap way to justify one’s bad actions.
