Captain Beefheart, the eccentric genius amd great avant guarde musician, has died.
To to quote All Music: “he employed idiosyncratic rhythms, absurdist lyrics and an unholy alliance of free jazz, Delta blues, latter-day classical music and rock & roll to create a singular body of work virtually unrivalled in its daring and fluid creativity.”
The man behind “Trout Mask Replica” can’t really be compared to anybody… many people i respect think he was the greatest of all time.
He died from of complications from multiple sclerosis at a hospital in Northern California this morning. He was 69 years old.
