Derezzed – Daft Punk – AHA! This is the one. Heavy duty synth dance by the numbers but every number fits and the drum machine sounds like they need their tonsils taken out.
Ultraviolet Light – Ryan Adams and the Cardinals – The problem here is it sounds just like these guys always do. Maybe a little worse. And it is old and feels it. The solution is not to worry about the problem, and enjoy a real good country rock band doing what they do.
Shades – Diddy – Or is that Ditty? I keep on thinking it is better than it is. But it isn’t. At the center of the song is something worse than “Bedrock”. Maybe that other song, the one where he admits he sucks as a dad, would sound better than it did on SNL. I mean, after a coupla spins.
You Haven’t Seen The Last Of me – Cher – Cher sounds, well, she sounds old. But the mix, Almighty radio, is pure gay disco 1981 and a real wonder.
Last Night At The Jetty – Panda Bear – It is a disquieting mood plus chanted weirdness, which might have failed, does someday, but here seems to be hanuting itself. TRACK OF THE WEEK.
Fucking Perfect – Pink – Oh, yeah, this is why I hate Pink. When she misses, she is ditchwater dull auto-pop plus synthetic tude.
X-M@$ -Corey Taylor – Almost funny. Like thisclose.
Get Some (Beck remix) – Lykke Li – I like this chick much more in theory than in practise. Same with Beck. This oblique little mix, would be a lot better if they hadn’t fucked the melody so hard.
Ironiclast – The Damned Things – Better than the title suggests. But not by much.
Love Letter – R. Kelly – This isn’t the worst song r. kelly has ever written but it is ABSOLUTELY the worst song Stevie Wonder has ever written.
(I Can’t Make It) Another Day (feat Lenny Kravitz) – Michael Jackson – the best of some exceedingly lean pickings, is a rave up step master. But cmon, now Kravitz is brught in to carry the corpse? Not for nothing, but Quincy Jones is right. There is no here here.
