Two young talented songwriters born a few years apart, dead a few years apart too, at a very early age and in a tragic way, although the comparison stops there, since Buckley died from drowning. There is somewhat some magic in this picture which captures an unique moment.
Both were working on albums when they died (‘From a Basement on the Hill’ for Elliott, ‘Sketches for my Sweetheart the Drunk’ for Jeff), two albums which were released posthumously.
Elliott had this to say about Jeff in an interview: ‘I met him one time – long enough to ask him if he was okay’.
