One of my favorite concert memories of all time was October 2008 when the Magpie and I met Panic! At The Disco at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport CT.
GREAT event but the venue is VERY confusing. As we exited the backstage area the door opened to a huge crowd of girls squealing with glee.
The Plain White T’s, their backs to us, were having a meet and greet.
Needless to say we felt a bit awkward. ‘Oh hey.. hows it goin?’ and we ducked out a side path.
The Plain White T’s were riding high on “Hey There Delilah”, remember that? They had another amazing song that didn’t get as much attention called “What If”, look it up.
So then whammo-they disappear…or did they?
Well they are back and have just released Wonders Of The Younger on Hollywood Records.
So, will it get them back to squealing girls?
Maybe.
“Welcome To Mystery” seems like it was lifted right from Panic, not a bad thing- but a bit brow furrowing.
I do like “Boomerang”, its got a crossing genre’ sorta feel. I can hear it on the radio, if I listened to the radio. But its pretty clearly PWT which makes me happy. I like bands who sound like themselves.
My hope they jump on a nice multi act tour, second or third on the bill. Perhaps they will get some proper promotion (they should never been allowed to lapse as long as they did) and become a real legit pop band.
‘Cept Mr Tom Higgenson……wipe off that lipstick
you look ridiculous. Oh and you guys stole Panic!s photo shoot idea too.
Just be yourselves.
