Remember those old cartoons where the happy bunnies are frolicking and playing then things go all dark and they’re really like ninja assassins?

I don’t like lyrical postcards that end up ironic jokes.
As a fan of Weezer I love Rivers voice and lyrics and his self depreciation but in the ‘Bonus’ track “Long Time Sunshine” I really feel the need to bitch slap the man.
The song is pleasant if not redundant dreams of ‘shoulda woulda wanna’s’, typical Weezer formula cute and piano filled.
The ending makes me wonder why I like Weezer at all. I think hes a jerk. There is nothing I hate more than a whining man crying he’s hurt.
Be a man.
You can be self loathing but if you’re gonna bitch like a woman put on a fucking dress.
I’m not sure, maybe I’m missing something here but this song makes me want to puke and I don’t even think I like Weezer anymore.

So in pursuit of fair reporting I pull the lyrics.
The lyrics are great, a man in pursuit of things, pipe dreams longings
but the recorded version has him and his friends crying like drunken frat boys ‘why bother?’ I really have very little tolerance for that sort of mentality, its most likely why I hate women’s rock.
There’s the lovable dorky nerd and then there’s this pathetic testosterone dry emo wanking man-shell that Rivers is here.
I wish I’d never heard this.
