Brian (Thank You) – Brian Wilson – from obscure boot meant for the non existent follow up to his first solo album. It is pretty awesome stuff, takes up right where the Beach Boys Love You and Brian Wilson left off.
Give Thanks And Praise – Sugar Minott – The great dancehall king in lovers rock mode. Jah says yes.
I Constantly Thank God For Esteban – Panic At The Disco – Not for nothing, but if their songs had just been half as good as their song titles… “If you are gonna preach, preach with conviction” they claim and if you’re gonna have the name Esteban in the title, write a better song.
See Me Through/Soldier Of Fortune/ Thank You For Letting Me Be Mice Elf Again – Van Morrison – Sure, this ain’t the Van live album you’re gonna choose first. It is the Van Morrison live album you’re gonna choose second. I saw him on this tour at the Beacon (1994) and he was… i dunno what to say… breathtaking. the only problem with this song is that it isn’t three songs.
Thank Me Someday – Buddy Guy – Pretty funny self-portrait with Guy practising till the wee hours and the family telling him to shut up.
Thank You – Jay-Z – Yeah, this aint “Roc Boys” so fuck off.
Thank You – Led Zeppelin – Power ballad. An early one.
Thank You – The Pipettes – Sweet nothing but sweeeeet nothing.
Thank You For Nothing – Elizabeth And The Catapult – Pretty and ill tempered folk song.
Thank You For The Music – ABBA – Sounds like a Broadway musical, especially the intro.
Thank You For Your Love – Anthony And the Johnsons – The problem with Anthony is neither his gender nor his voice, nor his arrangements. Its his material. but not here.
Thank You Lord – Acapella Soul – The subway acapella band and they sound fabulous. I interviewed em once for rock nyc. Didja know there are now competing Acapella Souls on the subway system?
Thank You Louise – Ryan Adams – Off Love Is Hell. I want you to imagine what it sounds like. Are you imagining? Because you’re right, that’s what it sounds like.
Thank You Too – My Morning Jacket – Their finest moment is their most unlikely – a Prince MMJ mash up of the first order. I can’t believe James followed it with the fucking awful “Dear God”. The next album better be as good as Evil Urges. I mean it.
Thanks For The Memories – Bob Hope – The first one, from early in his career. Well, earlyish. He was thirty-five. A couple get divorced and meet up a few years later. Shirley Ross has the chick voice, “You may have been a headache but you never were a bore…” Watch it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKgUq5dziEk
