I, like many other a John McLaughlin fand, come and go on the jazz guitarist so much I am never sure where I stand.
But this I do know.
When he ain’t getting over juiced in fusion there is no better guitarist around.
So the news on John’s latest albums leaves me a little… er, baffled! Apparently, it is a tribute to Coltrane’s A Love Superme. Which doesn’t much need a tribute.
McLaughlin told the Boston Globe, “I had no intention or idea or desire to make an homage, but the music came like that and reminded me of the marvelous event when I heard ‘Love Supreme’ for the first time.’’
The name of the album is To The One.
