So Glee, one of my favourite television shows, did an episode entitled The Rocky Horror Glee Show tonight. What a horror that was.
When I heard the idea, and saw the musical, I was very skeptical that it would work at all. Much too risque for the show, even though it already pushes the envelope in more ways than one.
For a split second, I thought it’d work- taking out the not-so-appropriate parts, switching up some of the more …interesting roles with adults, and not being stereotypical in the casting. I was very wrong. The show didn’t even intrigue me. If they want to do a musical, they should do the whole thing. Not just a few songs.
Now, here’s what they should’ve done: performed an entire musical, Rocky Horror or not, and kept it the same. You can’t take a show, completely alter it, and end up doing a handful of songs. It’s disappointing, wrong, and as a fan of both RHPS and Glee, it ruined a little bit of both for me.
Regardless, the plot of this episode was good, and it was Glee after all. I just hope that the next episode isn’t bad like this one.
