Half an hour of coming attractions before “Hereafter” last night at the Lincoln!
And I spent the half hour listening at the soundtrack.
The new Gus Van Sant “Restless” appears to be a sorta teen romance featuring weirdness plus terminal illness and a current sounding pop song on the soundtrack.
A pretty dreadful looking Vince Vaugh – Kevin James movie has Marron 5’s new flop “Misery” on the soundtrack. Wasn’t there a time when when a Vaugn movie made you do something other than shudder in horror?
And finally… the Coen Brother’s completely pointless looking remake of “True Grit”, starring Jeff Bridges as John Wayne, stars “God Is Gonna Cut You Down” though not Johnny Cash’s version. I blame the Coen’s for chnaging T-Bone Burnett from a bore to a superstar bore. Burnett’s academy award winning soundtrack to “O Brother, Wherefore Art Thou”.? Oh yeah? I coulda taken the Anthology Of American Folk Musi,. Harry Smit’s compiliation, and chosen a handful of songs with ease. Where’s my award?
