Robin Gibbs Of The Bee Gees: “Where Are The Songs?”

I caught the Bee Gees back in the mid-90s, playing a one off Saturday Night Fever concert with folks like Tavares.
It was a pleasure even though the Bee Gees even though they were doing Fever songs only.
From “Massachusetts” thru “One”, the Bee Gees were first rate songwriters so when robin Gibbs wants to discuss the art form we wanna listen. Or do we?
This is what Junior Gibbs had to say: ““Songs  not being created by new people. There’s only a handful like ourselves that have got them. I just wish new songwriters would be following suit because a lot of new songwriters today think it’s just about TheX Factor, showing up and singing, but there’s a lot more to it than that.
“Musicianship and composing are the backbone of the music industry and that’s not about The X Factor; that’s about hard work and knowing your stuff. A lot of new young British acts should do what the older generation were doing: get America. You can be big (in Britain but if you haven’t got America… ourselves, Elton John, the Beatles, Sting and others all made America but new British acts that are successful today don’t seem to explode beyond the white cliffs of Dover.”
This is, of course, meaningless dribble veering quickly into gibberish. Was Robin off his meds?
What is the man talking about.
This isn’t an opinion, it is even English.
