Can anybody film women better than Woody Allen: From Mariel Hemingway to Barbra Hershy to Naomi Watts in his new movie “You Will Meet A Dark Stranger”, these women have never looked more luminous.
I am a Woody Allen fanatic, I’ve seen all his movies and loved all his movies without exception, and I love this entirely cynical and funny comedy of errors. Musically? The Leon Redbone “When You Wish Upon A Star” is perfect for Allen’s metaphysical sneer and the opera this time is by Gaetano Donizetti, which means it is probably a tragedy. There’s some Mozart as well!!
Allen’s point with “When You Wish Upon A Star” is that you need to find a way to live your life and most things don’t work so, as he has said before, “Whatever Works”.
Great movie, fine soundtrack.
