LMFAO: Dance-Hop?

I mentioned yesterday I thought the New York Times music pages were the best in the business and not just because my old pal Jon Pareles writes for em; it’s because they have the clearest idea of all aspects of the landscape and they proved it again today with a heads up and foresighted article for all us music lovers who simply can’t keep up with this stuff.

Writer Jon Caramanica begins with what I am certain we can all agree is the single of the year so far, Black Eyed Peas “Boom Boom Pow,” rewinds for a look at rap and dance clubs from the begining of time and ends up discovering a trend. I claimed a month ago that this was the year of dance because I was concentrating on the Indie-dance bands like Passion Pit and Of Montreal, I though “Boom” was an aberation. And so was Pitball of course. Now add LMFAO to the mix and what you have is a really exciting trend and the continued evolution of dance music.
