1. Runaway – Kanye West – I missed it on the VMAs and I didn’t recognize it with Helen on SNL. Just released on Itunes, it is a melodic mea culpa and essentially perfect. This and “Monster” immediately amonth the best tracks of the year.
2. How? – Ozzy Osbourne – If Ozzy can sing like this, a Lennon cover, why does he not do it? How about a covers album?
3. Do Not Hang You Head – Elizabeth And The Catapults – Went to a listening party for the band yesterday at Verve. Her voice reminds me of Aimee Mann and the songs back it up.
4. Altt I Gudd – Olof Arnalds – Gorgeous folk rock from Sweden. She is playing Joe’s Pub October 9th at 930p. I’ll be there.
5. Nothing Matters Bguy you – The Young Veins – I loved it from the get go and still underestimated it. Best line: “I’m so wrapped up that nothing can untie me…”
6. Watching The Wheels – John Lennon – As a Lennon fanatic maybe it is worth buying this stripped down version for his letting out an “awww’ two minutes in. You? Maybe not so much.
7. Good For You (I Would Be) – Nive Nielsen
8. Angel – Mr. Little Jeans
9. Dreamcatcher – The Unicorn Kid
10. Don’t Say Goodbye – The Doobie Brothers
