Tiger Puss – KT Turnstall – This is about a recurring dream KT had once. Wait a second, if it is about a recurring dream how could she have had it once? It is, perhaps needless to add, a nightmare. Oh, and I think this is the only song with whistling I’ve hated on sight.
Live Vol 3 – The Avett brothers – Maybe you had to be there.
Lonely Avenue – Ben Folds and Nick Hornsby – How can a song called “Doc Pomus” -have no redeeming qualities. Easy, take a guy who can’t write music and add a man who can’t write lyric. I mean, I’ve heard of prosody this is prosiacody.
Halycon Digest – Deerhunter – Didn’t I see these guys live earlier this year? Anyone? Anyone?
Down Came the Rain – Hurricane Bells – An EP by a bloke, Longwave guitarist Steve Schiltz. who played and sang the whole thing himself. This EP is just plain brilliant. Even the “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” cover is very good. I plan to invest in a coupla tracks.
