Taking Back Sunday singer Adam Lazzara is most famous for whipping around his microphone and nearly choking himself to death. When we saw TBS with Weezer every time he’d lasso the thing I’d hold my breath. Ligature aint pretty, and he is.
Well, word has it he’s a pretty cool guy too.
So in a very selfless gesture and one with information, he has asked that birthday wishes and gifts be offere to charity.
“Did you know that $20 can give someone clean water for up to 20 years? I didn’t, but I do think everyone should have access to clean water. So I decided to donate my birthday this year to Charity: Water and ask people to help fund clean water projects for my birthday instead of asking for my usual list of things like rocket ships, helicopters and ponies. If you have a few extra dollars please donate – every little bit helps – and thank you.”
Nice huh? See in a world of bands actually asking for gifts cards (seriously, some myspace bands actually say ‘if youre going to give us gifts we could use…), its nice that a kid will do this instead.
He’s not Bono. He’s not a mega star.
He’s a guy who wants to help those less fortunate.
