Comment: Interesting list from the head of True Groove records Tomas Doncker, who recorded the second best album of 2013, certainly Kevin Jenkins is a great soul album and deserves to be on a helluva lot of lists, and Marla? Tomas is referring to the Deluxe album and her newer stuff is even better. Do I see Mrs. Doncker’s influence with Mumford And Sons (2012 but we’ll forgive them). The two revelations here are Cody Chestnutt’s superb r&b album from late 2012 and Bernie Worrell’s brilliant new album which opens with Miles Davis and closes with Bob Marley and in between is a subtle and beautiful jazz masterwork for piano.
