We Search Ramona’s Ipad For Guilty Pleasures…And Don’t Find Many by Iman Lababedi

I know I’ve been teasing out the Ramona story for weeks now and I know they won’t break till Columbia releases the album next year (though if you’ve downloaded “How Long” off Spinner.com or caught their set last week, you won’t need to wait to become a fan), but trust me: you will be happy to have this info at some point…
So I got in touch with lead singer Karen Anne and asked her to bring her Ipad with her for the sole purpose of embarrassing her in front of, er, dozens of readers.
Unfortunately, her taste was pretty good.  Essentially what you’d expect. Girl groups like the Chiffons and the Shirelles (better to teach the band back up vocals), lotsa Blondie, LOTS AND LOTS OF Clash… Some Limey stuff…
Oh wait UGH UGH UGH. Mumford and Sons. And, wake me up soon, Best Coast though I do like Girls when they’re on their game and they are here.  Karen thinks Girls album could be a bit more consistent and I tend to agree. No xx that i see (It might be there but… it takes awhile to get to the 23rd letter of the alphabet). Johnny Mcelhone, the pop rock wiz kid, notes the xx the album clicks eventually.
Perhaps, but who has the time?
As for Karen: sorry i can’t embarrass her more. No Scouting For Boys, a band I don’t know but hate on principle (the principle being their name sucks) and she and drummer James Watts hate em for stealing a cover idea… can’t remember what the song was. So I will claim it’s Debbie Boone’s “You Light Up My Life”. Gotcha.
