In something exceedingly rare, the signing of Sacha Baron Cohen to portray Freddie Mercury is a perfect match of actor and role.
If you only know Cohen from Borat, you might think errr… as camp as Mercury was, he was a huge rock star and a closeted homosexual with an important life and an integral part of theatrical rock (as well as a magician at an anthem), the last thing we want is a caricature.
But anybody whho saw “Sweeny Todd” knows Borat can both sing and act. He is physically similar and has the chops to pull it off.
Should be great.
