1. Coma Summer – Weekend – The buzzsaw guitar is right offa JAMC but the melody belongs to these San Fran natives and it is amazing how powerful it is. The first great song of the winter season.
2. Nightime – Afrobeta – I’ve dubbed these guys hedonists and they might be, but this song is filled with dark corners and the nocturnal pleasures merge with nocturnal responsibilities. Sorta like Amber if Amber went off the pill and made her love use condoms.
3. Swim – Surfer Blood – Not bad mood surf at half pace.
4. Drumshambo Shuffle – Van Morrison – Sure Van hates the majors, so do you and I, but they are the only game in town. Still.
5. You’re The First, The Last, My Everything – Barry White – To quote Van: for any one who has ever loved, for any one who has ever tried.

8. Julie – The Bobby Fuller Four – Given the date, the drums are really weirdly produced with tamboruine taking the lead.
