Ramona Is A Band In New York City by Iman Lababedi

Karen Anne and the boys, otherwise known as  Ramona, hit the land of the  Ramones yesterday and today Loubaba (my niece) and I will be checking them out at a private party for a Vogue something or the other at Burberry’s in Soho.
Brighton’s finest is a weird band.. I guess I will have a better handle on them seeing them live. Speaking with Karen Anne she seems psyched to check on the Bowery in person and was interested in an exhibition saluting the late, not that lamented , Max’s Kansas City.
The band is in town  for the Burberry party (some connects there, right?) and for a photo shoot… I’m not sure if it is the photo shoot or the Burberry gig that has something to do with “vogues fashion night out”. But then again, as Sade once said to me “A guy who comes to  Spandau Ballet’s private party in jeans and a paint covered tee shirt probably isn’t too interested in fashion”.
So given I don’t know a damn thing about fashion, I still know lots about pop music and Ramona have an ice cool vibe and a knock out lead singer with a voice seeped in something but not quite emotion.
For now, go on to spinner.com and check out their “mp3 Of The Day” from a few weeks ago for the fabulous second cousin of Blondie’s “Dreaming” (Karen Anne namechecks Blondies first album as a fave), “How Long”,  and if you don’t get to see em this time, I bet you will very soon. Manhattan was built on bands like Ramona.
