One of rock nyc faves, pop-singer Emii, has made it clear that its her turn to stick it to the man.. the man behind auto-tune that is.
About a year late behind Jay-Z’s Death Of Autotune (D.O.A.), but better late then never is what I always say. Emii has began to make a cartoon series titled, “Death to Auto-Tune”, and episode 1 is now available on youtube for your viewing pleasure. It stars her alter-ego, Firebird, in her quest to take down the evil Auto-Tune machine. I got your back Firebird! Auto Tune is a joke. And as Emii, or rather Firebird says in the cartoon, “what if a computer programmer couldn’t program a computer, and an architect should be able to design a building. So if you’re a singer you should be able to sing right?”
Yes Emii, you should.
After an interview that fellow rock nycer Iman amd I conducted with Emii earlier this summer, it was quite evident that this powerful, independent woman, had no time nor patience for anyone trying to achieve and match her vocal greatness via cutting corners. I feel bad for the evil Auto-Tune monster, who has to go up against the ass-kicking Emii/Firebird and what she is planning on laying down on them, (Emii is highly training in Karate and Tae Kwon Do, so watch out!)
You also get a live, ( not auto-tunes.. duh), performance of Emii SINGING her hit, “I’d Rather be Lonely,” after the episode. A great, pretty catchy song too, if you haven’t heard it yet.
