The boys of Modern English were vegetarians and their fantastic 80s love song “Melt With You” was used in a Burger King commercial.
“Melt With You”, before it was covered with cheese and blood was one of the sweetest songs of all time. When you’re in love songs sorta show up in full color again, this is one of them. To have a man literally stop the world to melt, is some heavy duty stuff and the hmm mm mm, is adorable.
Lead singer Robbie Grey has put aside his leather boy wear in exchange for some more age appropriate duds (thank you) and actually recorded AND RELEASED a new ep “Blister”
Yet another unpopular move, recording and releasing new music to.. support a tour.
I hear a collective gasp out there. I know, its awesome.
But the sad thing is they’re all West and North West but we can still here their new material.
The title tune is great! Upbeat distorted and very very Modern Sounding,”Happiness Training” almost reminds me of Split Endz, not sure why maybe that cosmic feel. “Its OK” is really just OK, its the week link on an otherwise great release. “Here Comes Failure”, pleasant sadpop. Contradictory?
Yup but good just the same.
Its unfortunate they decided not to come East, I’m pretty sure that would be a fun show.
Another time- until then do give Blister a spin or a click.. or whatever. Good stuff.
