Watching the Emmy’s Sunday night, I couldn’t get past the opening number, the twits from Glee plus Jimmy Fallon, Tina whatsername, and a coupla others launching “Born To Run” as a song and dance number.
I almost took to my blog to destroy it.
But yesterday I youtubed and you know what? I was taking it seriously when, honestly, it isn’t very serious. The dancing sucks but it has a kinetic energy to it, the singing is dreadful but no less than the song deserves at this point; if you wanna be part of the canon, get used to being defiled.
As for Fallon?
He irritated me on SNL (all the giggly in-joke bullshit), I don’t much like his talk show but I’ll watch it if i’m in late from a gig. And I don’t like his singing, not here, not elsewhere. The schtick is as follows: “i’m being serious but i’m joking but i’m really being serious”. He is the All State insurance of talk show hosts.
