Electric Zoo Saturday September 4th, 2010 Preview by Woody Fuller

This upcoming labor day weekend, a wild and crazy zoo of music/festival fans, along with many of the top electronic/dubstep acts will be grazing on Randall’s Island all day Saturday and Sunday, with headline acts, The Chemical Brothers and Armin Van Buuren, respectively.
You can purchase day passes or an all weekend pass, if you happen to be feeling extra adventurous. Saturday is going to be a great day of music, and I would be completely satisfied after stage hopping for the day, and probably still feel as if I had been partying all weekend.
You had me at ‘hello’, with the Saturday line-up at the Zoo this year. Not only are the Chemical Brothers headlining, and they have such a funky, outer space sound and vibe to them, a must see in a live setting, but Pretty Lights and Major Lazer are also playing. If you have been somewhat keeping up with rockNYC, then you might have come across the multiple CD reviews, live performance previews and reviews, as well as overall awesomeness I preach about PL, I just dig em so hard. Derek Vincent Smith, has new drummer, Adam Deitch, who I haven’t seen live..yet. Also Major Lazer seems to have the Midas touch, and after such a vicious show at Bisco, I couldn’t be happier he will be at Zoo. If you haven’t heard his mash-up with La-Roux, Lazer Proof, download ASAP.
The “Off my bucket list” bands includes, grammy award winning Italian DJ, Benny Benassi, is also hitting the main stage in between Major Lazer and Chemical Bothers. I bet my lunch money, he will have everyone in attendance on their feet, acting fools, dictating their the pulse and heart beats. Very excited to see what he can do for me live, up close and personal.
For reasons that don’t comprehend in my mind, Rusko is listed on the bottom playing on the Riverside stage. I discovered Rusko at Bisco. T-storms forced all remaining sets to take to indoor late-night dance tent. He took the stage at about 2 am, after GirlTalk finished his set of pressing play on his computer and wild’in the fuck out for an hour or so. Rusko, really brought his A game and I was quite impressed, and only more excited he will be at Electric Zoo this weekend.
And unless you are a square, and therefor probably not attending anyway, don’t think the party is all over at sunset when we get kicked off the island until Sunday, because like any great party, there is an even doper after party at super club Pacha NYC!! On Saturday, September 4th, the one and only Sharam and Juicy Music’s Robbie Rivera will keep the party going along with one of the hottest new collaborations in dance music Dresden & Johnston, techno duo Italoboyz, a special live performance from MINUS favorite Heartthrob, and New York’s own Taimur & Fahad.
