My Fave Tracks, Saturday August 21st by Iman Lababedi

1. Right Above It (feat Drake) – Lil Wayne – There is a volatile accelaration that pushes you to dge of Wayne’s world.
2. Big Wave – Jenny And Johnny – This isn’t volatile, it laps you in blandness and only creeps up and grabs you at the chorus. The chorus gets added force from the whateverness of the verse. Also? Kinda L.A., right?
3. Nikorette – Conor Oberst – A coupla years old so I’m not sure why I have it back in rotation. One reason is because the “texting my friend about a bad bad dream” is always paid back with “I just had to tell someone who knows me”. Incidentally, as much a self-portrait as Lil Wayne’s newbie.
4. I Found Love – Shit Robot – This song is beyond great: “I found luf luhhuhuf at the disco tech…”
5. Fools Rush In – She & Him
6. Hard Night Out – Professor Green -I am so clever, sight unknown I connected him to the Streets and guess what? he records for The Streets record label…
7. Month Of May – The Suburbs – The definitive rocker from an album that coulda used a couple more. And speak of the Suburbs, it hasn’t been a month yet and there whole swathes of songs I never wanna hear again on the album. Same old story: the good is great but the rest…
8. Just Pray – For Science – The final song from Modern Hut is a tale of religious ambivalence from Joe’s last band.
9. Boss – Screaming Females
10. Give Me What I Want And Give It To Me Now – Rufus Wainwright
