Mary Magpie Redefines The Classics: Van Morrison’s “Moondance”

Editors Note: Our 13 year old contributing (for about a year now) writer Mary Magpie, has decided to visit some of the classics an old time like me takes for granted FOR THE FIRST TIME!! So far she has reviewed The Sun Sessions And Are You Experience? One of these days I’m gonna sic her on One Nation Under A Single Groove…
Van Morrison’s a name I’d heard before, but never put much thought into it. “Moondance”, one of his albums, I’d never even heard of, or even a song off of it.
Turns out I’ve heard him without knowing it. “Moondance” is a song I’ve heard countless times and never had a clue who it was. Apparently it’s Morrison. A timeless classic and a good song to dance to. I loved this song and hadn’t any idea just who the musician was. Glad I know now.
“Into The Mystic” is a fabulous song that is considered to be the best song he ever recorded. It sounds like it should be on the Harold and Maude soundtrack in my opinion. It’s beautiful and heartfelt and another timeless song.

“These Dreams of You” is catchy and his voice is beautiful. This song truly shows off his talent. From the lyrics to the music, it’s definitely a song to put on repeat.

Van Morrison is a legend. Timeless and worth learning more about.
