The “We” Playlist by Iman Lababedi

1.We Are All Accelerated – Los Campesinos – I think when it comes to love we enter every relationship like an absolute beginner and end on out knees begginf for mercy. This singalong from the band’s first album remains one of the great indictments of romantic love.

2.We Are All We Have Tonight – The Casualities – Sounds like the a hardcore band raised in the West in the 90s.

3.We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed – Los Campesinos – The title track of their second album is another great moment: those first two albums are so great, never has a collective term been more useless.

4. We Are Broken – Paramore – I thought Riot was their good album… this is not a pleasant experience at all.

5. We Are Each Other – The Beautiful South – Add it up yourself.

6. We Are Free Men – Bright Eyes – Conor at his most moribund.

7. We Are Nowhere And It’s Now – Bright Eyes – That’s Emmylou Harris singing back up.

8. We Are The Future – Drop the Lime – Luca Venezia is so cool, he is the sort of name that shows up when you’re talking to Holy Ghost! Bassist.

9.We Are The People (Sam Le More remix) – Empire Of The Sun – Heavy, heavy, heavy on the synths and the drum machine for these nicely nicely Aussies.

10. We Are The Pigs – Suede – Glam rock and Brit pop like they done in the 90s.

11. We Are Young – 3Oh!3 – Sophomoric in a good way.

12 We Be Getting Money – Juvenile – Not bad if you’re a fan -which I haven’t been since 400 Degreez

13. We Belong To The Music (feat Miley Cyrus) – You know? Miley has a crappy voice and the BPM’s aren’t 127 by a long shot and Timbaland ain’t juicing shit here.

14. We Belong Together – Mariah Carey – One of the few songs she crushed New Year’s Eve at MSG.

15. We Belong Together – Randy Newman – Joyous ode to friendship worthy of the excellent Toy Story 3

16. We Call Upon The Author To Explain – Nick Cave & The Badseeds – From Cave’s excellent but very strange attempt to deal with the Bible, a not unnatural request by the great man. “Everything is banal and jujune” he says at one point, “prolix, nothing a pair of scissors can’t fix. Funny bloke. Scary song.

17. We Called It America – NOFX – They mean it, man.

18.We Can’t Help You – Shephen Malkmus And The Jicks – Malkmus solo career has been a disaster and perhaps we should all just admit it and get ready for the Pavement reunion.

19. We Can Get Together – The Hold Steady – I previcate a little about the current album: what I love I worship, what I don’t love I don’t much like, and this is somewhere in between.

20. We Can Work It Out – The Beatles – Something of a dry run for “A Day In the Life” -Macca takes the verses hopefully, Winston O’Boogie takes the chorus and thinks it’s a crime. Grade: A+ . Oh, I’m not grading these songs BUT IF I WAS…

21. We Carry On – Portishead – Those guitars are pretty loud.

22. We Didn’t Start The Fire – Billy Joel – A list. A long boring list.

23. We Don’t Like You – D.C. Snipers – Dan McGee gets his punk on.

24. We Don’t Live Here Anymore – Jakob Dylan – Sure I liked the album. Not this song but.

25. We Don’t Need It – Lil Kim – Sure I loved the album. Not this song but.

26. We Float – PJ Harvey – Great album, includes Thom Yorke’s great moment ever: this is a trifle bland, coparatively a little bland.

27.We Give Our Lives – Sabbath Assembly – Ooooh, those satanists or some weird shit like that.

28. We Go Together – John Travolta – Shang shang… nah… I’ve been trying to figure out a male groan of sexual pleasure but they all sound dumb. I had ugh or uhhhhhhhhh or oooooooh but ugh, oooh? Nah, and Shang is right out.

29. We Got Married – Paul McCartney – Another crap song off another great album. Flowers In The Diret has “My Brave Face” “You Want Her To” and “Put Her There” and this fucking track. Itunes was made to save us from this.

30. We Gotta Live Together – Jimmi Hendrix – The drummer is pretty good as well.

31. We Had Everything – Jenny Wilson – Next album? She breaks Stateside.

32. We Have Love – hot Chip – A bit of a drag live but this plugs in good to the vibrator.

33. (We Have) No Secrets – Carl
y Simon – Like a Bret Easton Ellis novel come to live

34. We Left Everything – Doug Keith – The best new folk singer around.

35. We Love you – The Rolling Stones – Of course we do.

36. We Made A Mountain – Kinda Gospelly for a Saddlecreek alt band.

37. We Made You – Eminem – Better than anything on Recovery -better than the Rihanna hit. Fuck being a good boy.

38. We Must Have Been Out Of Our Minds – George Jones – is this guy the greatest phraser in country? Yup. In Pop? He’s up there. This is a terrific singalong about a mistaken break up. NYC’s worst moment was not selling out Carnegie Hall when the giant was in town.

39. We No Speak Americano – Yolanda Be Cool – drinking rum and coca cola no doubt.
